Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey, was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1830 - 1834. Earl Grey tea is named after him.
According to one legend, a grateful Chinese diplomat whose son was rescued from drowning by one of Lord Grey's men first presented the tea blend to the Earl in 1803.
